Abstract
Lillian Bode was a missionary in China and Taiwan as well as in Zuni, New Mexico, for a short time. The collection includes correspondence, materials, and photographs from China, and articles by and about her.
Biographical Note
Lillian Bode served as a missionary to China and Taiwan as well as New Mexico. She had a sister named Helen Cook, a sister-in-law named Caroline Bode Kuiper, as well as two nephews named Ron and Dennis Bode and a niece named Faith Tibe. She was the daughter of a minister, and attended the Moody Bible Institute before becoming a missionary to China in 1926; she was evacuated from there, due to the Civil War in 1927, the Japanese invasion of China in 1934, and also in 1949 when there was a communist victory. She served in Taiwan from 1963 until 1967. Lillian Bode died at the age of ninety-six years old in Redlands, California.
