Name: Vander Pol, Matt (1972-)

Historical Note: Comic book artist and Calvin College alumni, Matt Vander Pol, is creator of the comic book series Life Quest. Although marketed as a secular comic, Vander Pol's series is inspired by the parables of Jesus Christ.  He was quoted as saying, "I want to be a Christian artist, and I believe this can reach kids without being preachy." He received the Russ Manning Award as the Most Promising Newcomer in the comic book arena.
